Cool, Progressive, Inviting, Engaging, Hip, Delicious, Vibrant, Inspiring – Austin,TX

We stayed at Austin Lone Star RV Resort, it is a popular resort with nice amenities and very nice and helpful staff.  The sites are comfortably spaced and well maintained.

We checked out Zilker Park, it’s a huge park where they host “South by Southwest“!  We took a train ride around the park with the boys.  This park has so much to offer, kayak/canoe rentals, frisbee football, kite flying……and a huge spring fed swimming pool.

Austin flew in and joined us in Austin!  We stayed at Pecan Grove RV Park, it is one of the best kept secrets in Austin (I hope we can stay there again)!  It’s a rustic, older park but their location is AWESOME and the owners are so nice and helpful.

We went to Uchi  the chef/owner is a James Beard Foundation award winner and we were blown away with the flavors we experienced, (we waited 1 1/2 hrs to eat)!  During our wait they would bring out samples for us to try 😋  If you visit Austin I highly recommend Uchi 🤩.

Next morning we headed out early to Franklins Barbecue (one of the nations best barbecue and the owner is also a James Beard award winner for BBQ)!  We got there at 9:20 am (they don’t open till 11:00am) and the line was all the way down the street, around the corner.  The first ones in line were there at 5:15am😮  My mouth is watering just writing about Franklins!  I highly recommend the Franklin experience 😍!

The line starts from the top of the right side of the aqua/beige building we are by the motorcycle (can you see Hugh in the green jacket?….Austin is right behind him!)

The whole experience of waiting to eat at Franklins is awesome, everybody is in a party mood, they bring coolers, lounge chairs and a happy anticipation (this is all starting in the AM)! The workers at Franklins come out to see how everyones doing, they also want to know what everyone is planning to order so they can let the people know at the end of the line if anything will be left.  They close once everything is sold out!

We got into Franklins at 1:30 pm and everyone around us is still happy, we were too!
We all agreed that it was the best Barbecue we ever had (no barbecue sauce needed)!

We went to The Escape Game not knowing what to expect, we had 60 minutes to solve the mystery and  “Escape”.  It was so much fun and we worked really well with our teammates, 60 minutes flew by and we Escaped!  If you love problem solving and team work you will love this!

We stopped at Austin Beer Works and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon!  The brewery is a popular gathering place for young locals.  They have great  beer and they give you a glass  to take home when you order a beer!

We celebrated our 36th anniversary at Trulucks and our server brought us a flaming dessert on the house, it was delicious!

We checked out several venues in Austin, Hanger Lounge, Elephant Room, Continental Club and Antones!  We saw a surprise performance by Gary Clark Jr!

Austin was such a trendy, cool place to hang out, there is so much to see and do and there are so many great places to eat and have drinks.   They have really good water too😊!  We want to go back for sure!
